I write fast-paced, gritty romantic suspense. I've lived an adventurous - sometimes harebrained - life in South Africa, the Middle East, and Utah. Thanks to numerous careers and escapades (Jill of all trades, master of some) I've been lucky enough to have traveled the globe.

I love to write about strong independent women and the men that support them. I try not to include any weak-ass protagonists in my books - if I ever do - you have permission to kick my typist bum. When I'm not writing about men whose beards smell of Cordite, I work as a Corporate Trainer in Utah.

I love British Chocolate, and my little wigglebum 'British' Cocker Spaniel.

I received a review copy of this book from the author through Voracious Readers.
Wow! This was a thrilling story! It grabbed me right from the first chapter and did not let me go. I basically read it in one day - it was that good. The author weaves a complex and intriguing tale filled with action, suspense, unexpected romance and treachery. I love that the women in the story are all strong, resourceful and independent and more than a match for the swoon worthy alpha men trying to protect them. All of the characters were thoughtfully created and each fits into the story perfectly. The writing is fast paced, the romance is steamy and sizzling, and the action is pulse-pounding, with enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I will definitely be reading this author’s next books. Fantastic!

Not for the faint of heart!

If you’re looking for a sweet little calm love story, look elsewhere. This book is full of action, suspense, steamy love and betrayal. It was sometimes a horrid reminder of how brutal humanity can be but it also highlights how someone can persevere despite the most difficult events. So engaging with its vividness and tactile descriptions that you couldn’t not feel like you were part of the action. You won’t be able to put it down.

This is my first book / series by Louise Dawn but certainly won't be the last. This book (and series) should read every romantic suspense lover. Honestly I can’t believe this is a debut book and series because it was cleverly well developed, well written and thought out. It was told in dual, third person POV. I liked everything about this book and writing which just flowed and had me engrossed to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. It also was so effortless and poignant. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. It’s thrilling, gripping, edge of your seat page turner. It’s also a bit dark, twisted and a wild ride that I enjoyed from first to last page. The characters are so amazing, relatable, and the guys – teammates from MIT – Mobile Intelligent Team - have such an amazing chemistry and camaraderie. The topics are real, important and relatable. The villains are portrayed with such intensity that you are literally immersed into their world.

Siren In The Wind is the first book in Mobile Intelligent Team series. I also love the scenery – setting – South Africa. When I read military romance it’s usually set in the US soil, so this is a nice change.

Erik “Max” Andersen is the team leader of MIT - Mobile Intelligent Team. He is polyglot (which I love because I also love languages). Max is a Tier One Operator and his skills and interrogation expertise are put to test. He is caring, loving, strong, loyal and protective of those who he loves and cares about, an alpha through and through, complex, doesn’t trust easily; but he is also vulnerable.

Abigail is an artist and designer. She is so strong, complex, fierce, loyal, brave, intelligent, resourceful, independent, beautiful, such a badass and vulnerable. Abby didn’t have an easy childhood so she needed to learn how to take care of herself and because of that she doesn’t trust easily. I love that she has geeky side and I find her really relatable. The struggles she went through only made her stronger and more determined to move on and start truly living.

Max and Abby were amazing together and it showed that they are really meant to be. They are both flawed and complex. Neither of them at the beginning is looking for a relationship or love for different reasons, but also they can’t deny the strong connection, pull they feel and the chemistry. They are passionate, angsty and intense. From the moment Max and Abby met he was instantly drawn to her as she was to him. At first she doesn’t trust him and she is confident she can handle herself without his help. Both start to establish some level of understanding and trust when the truth finally comes out and secrets are exposed. I love how Max is protective of her and how his friends accepted her and made her feel at ease.

description

Max’s friends – Johnny, Slater and Donnie - are so intriguing, engaging, funny and incredible. I just love their camaraderie, friendship and how in sync they are. I can’t wait to read their stories.

The epilogue was the best and so emotional. I cried the happy tears and the sad tears because of the lost time with someone in Abby’s past (I’m not telling you need to read it). It’s what Max and Abby deserved after all they’ve been through.

This book is a good start to the series and it is really amazing. It’s filled with so much love and so much heart, effortless and poignant writing with compelling, gripping storyline and her knowledge of the military life and terminology which makes the book even more real, relatable and compelling. In my opinion it will attract the readers who love romance and romantic suspense mixed with mystery, intrigue, damaged, rugged heroes and strong, fierce heroines. I highly recommend it.

Let’s begin with the story being a SLOOOOOWWWW BUUUURRRRRRNN! And I’m not exaggerating. The attraction between Max and Abby was intense and created sexual tension for the majority of the story. But let me go back to the beginning.

Max is in a special forces military unit assigned to find the Sandpiper, a notorious terrorist. The intel they receive has them trying to infiltrate Abby and her life to get closer to The Sandpiper. And this is how the tension and slow burn come to be. Max is a professional and will not ruin his career or jeopardize the country and Abby has a story (secrets) which keep her guarded.

Even though the sexual tension continues through the majority of the story, there is so much more to the story which keeps you captivated. It is filled with suspense, light hearted camaraderie, and mystery. And let's not forget the HOT military guys in the unit. 😉The pacing is great and keeps you enthralled the whole time.

I highly recommend this story. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 1/2 Stars!!

This is my first foray into what I’m learning is Adult Military Romantic Suspense? And to be honest I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of the story. Neither was I ready for the style of writing which is direct, passionate and pretty alien to me.
Abigail’s character is a strong and idealistic woman with deep dark secrets. Max, the love interest is the hero on a mission to find a suicide bomber and is beguiled by Abigail. Her character really outshines the tall-dark-handsome.
The conclusion to this story is a loose end begging to be sewn up. So ready for the sequel.

What a tail Ms. Dawn wove 💗 I thoroughly enjoyed every page & can not wait to read the next in the series. I do not like to give away story details in a review, those are for you to read in the book. So, all I'm going to say is that the characters are easy to imagine as real people, the story is complex with many 'wrenches thrown in' to add great drama. I loved it! 1-click it, you'll love it too ❤

Let me start out by saying that if I could rate this book higher than 5 stars I would! I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this book, and I didn't regret the missed sleep!! This is a well crafted story with characters you love and those you love to hate, and I was drawn into the book from the prologue and was fully engaged right up until the last word. Visually powerful. You feel it. Louise Dawn is a masterful story teller.
I am taken back by this author's incredible imagery, powerful visuals and depth of detail. Chapter after chapter you feel as if you have experienced the amazing physical action and spent the emotional currency of the heroine. Louise Dawn is a masterful story teller. She is detailed, thorough and invested in every word and picture she paints in "Siren In The Wind: Mobile Intelligence Team". An absolute masterpiece by an incredible author.

"Siren in the Wind' represent a great example of a fiction gem that needs to be polished in order to shine brightly in the sunlight. For a first book from an author, as I found out from the internet, this should be considered a bold move. The language is simple enough that almost any age could go through it without difficulty if it hadn't a handful of intimate scenes. Although this is a good choice for a book to read on the go as the plot is simple enough for you to be reading on and off, it doesn't mean that it hadn't a few suspense traps where you actually have to keep reading. One downside of this book though is having some illogical areas that make it hard to believe for skeptical type of people and even disconnecting from the story sometimes. It made the whole work seem as an unfinished work but it also lead me to believe that a second polished edition of this story can unravel the real action buried within the folds of this refreshing plot. In the end, I can't deny it was sweet on many occasions and fun to read.

Siren in the Wind is a brilliant, engaging and captivating read. I loved this book from start to finish. Full of action, suspense, steamy hot romance and betrayal. I especially appreciated the vividness, attention to detail and the tactile descriptions made me feel like I was part of the action and the way that the author paints a picture of South Africa really makes me want to visit this region and experience their culture!

Louise is an excellent writer and I’m so looking forward to the next book in this series! I highly recommend this action packed novel and can’t wait to find out what the future holds for Lizzy and Johnny.

So I don't even know where to start, flawless, action filled, exceptional, great gripping storyline, thrilling, sexual, tender, emotional all these words spring to mind when I think of this story!

It starts with meeting the two "main" characters I love the switching between points of view it's adds another depth to the plot at which it is heading, it's unpredictable you can not see where this is heading. The writing technique is fluent and precise each word is delivered with passion I which adds to the building up tension you see very clearly forming.

Enter Max! Holy heck now this is a fangirl off your chars moment night in shining armour bad boy vibe beautiful man that he is *swoons* can't say to much without giving it a way but I'm team Max

Now Abby or Abs *wink* you'll find out about that once you've read it! Well if she isn't a wee spitfire what a strong passionate brave intelligent beautiful woman it's refreshing having a leading lady that is geeky wacky in the best ways and most of all relatable in ways, she comes to life as an actual person I can picture her her struggles her stature her quirks and everything is just stunning honestly stunning.

On to the plot well I'm not one for struggling for words all I can say is perfect balance of everything you want in a book (requesting sequel here because I want and need more)

I will continue to reread this over and over again it really is that good, I'm a reader that will always give a story a go no matter the genre etc however I don't bum and blow every story because let's face t not every story will be perfect there will be flaws and mistakes and grammar errors that's life that's part of growing and writing and reading you learn to live with it THIS STORY HAS NONE OF THOSE IT IS PERFECTION IT OS A MASTERPIECE AND IT IS A MUST READ.

Siren in the Wind by Louise Dawn is the first book in her Mobile Intelligence Team. I've now read two of the books and have the 3rd book waiting to be read. These are all Standalone and can be read in any order .

I have to say that this one is a doozy because you have a Flight Attendant who can't shake a Sheikh who won't take no for a final answer, a terrorist that could go toe-to-toe with Osama, A Special Ops soldier tasked to guard and begins to care for Abigail Evans who by the way knows how to bring down a Learjet in 3 minutes when she's kidnapped. A betrayal by her childhood friend Kris Mueller a game warden and pedal to the floor ending that will keep you up late because you want to know how it all ends.

Abigail Evans works as a flight attendant in the middle east and doesn't accept any invitation of any passengers but when she attends one party after a flight and is drugged and assaulted by Khalid Al Juhani AKA Sandpiper. But she's on the run now because she has the one thing he desires a but will a trusted best friend be the one who'll sell her out? Can Erik "Max" Andersen find the suicide bomber all while trying to guard Abby because nothing is as it seems and secrets are never safe with anyone.

What a read and I have now found another author that has me as an avid fan. This story had it all, the emotions, the steam, the suspense, the action, the heartbreak and heartache and of course a HEA for both Max and Abigail.
The story starts out with Max having surveillance on Abigail, a woman who is suspected of ties to a terrorist and Max, who is the team lead for an elite military group will not be swayed by the beautiful woman, especially if she is a traitor to her country. Abigail has her secrets and doesn’t let anyone get close to her, she has her reasons but when Max starts to worm his way into her life....can she let her guard down.
Oh boy...what a read...a read with a slow burn between these two that was worth every single page to see these two finally combust. The twists and turns had me flipping the pages and the characters, all of them, had me wanting more more more!! The suspense had me gripping the seat and the secret...blew me away...didn’t see that coming. The heartache and heartbreak was for what she went through and is not for the faint of heart. The story flowed beautifully, the characters were amazing and I can’t wait to delve into the next one.

This was an enjoyable, fast paced, rollercoaster ride of a book.
It touched on sensitive subjects, but wrote them well. The opening scene tells you that.

I liked that the story was centred around our hero and heroine, but there were other people wrapped around a sub plot, that I look forward to what happens to them in the next book.

A file lands on Max's desk that has his team infiltrating the life of Abigail Evans.
She's a person of interest in tracking down a high priority terrorist.
Insert into her life, get to know her friends, make her lead them to Khalid So Juhani, then take them both out.

But something's wrong. This doesn't feel that cut and dried to Max. Abi is hiding something and he and his team need to know what it is.
When the truth finally comes out, no one was prepared for the brutality of her story.
Now...? All bets are off. Khalid has an even bigger bullseye on his back.
But Abi is still hiding something and after they know absolutely everything, well put it this way, nobody saw that one coming.

I read this book in stages and not because it was boring or slow. I’d get to what I’d consider a pivotal point in the story and feel the need to pause - either to lengthen the anticipation or to regroup. Louise Dawn takes us into a frighteningly realistic underworld of terrorism, where things like the #MeToo movement are totally irrelevant, as dispensable as the lives of men, women, and children. Our hero is tough and determinedly mission focussed. Our heroine is wary and hiding secrets. Thankfully, the thriller elements don’t simply serve as backdrop to a love affair but are integrated into the story. Abigail’s character is a lot more fleshed out than is Max’s who is perhaps a stereotypical dark ops specialist (not knowing any, I can’t be sure ☺️). An enjoyable read, complete in itself, while setting up for the next installment.

A serious, sexy, and sensational page turner

A young woman suddenly swept into a dark web of terror. An intensely heroic spec ops hunk trying to ferret out her terrorist ties. So begins a fast paced tale that twists and turns in ways that tug at your heartstrings, sets your pulse racing with fear, and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.

Secrets, lies, and misdirection abound. The large cast of well developed characters each has their own role to play, their own priorities. But they’ll have to work together to stop the common enemy turning their lives upside down.

And if you’re like me, you’ll probably lose sleep wanting to know the outcome. All I can say is you won’t be disappointed. Though the ending, while completely perfect, is just par for course. Gripping and emotional, it had my full attention the whole way through.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have not really read books with military characters. This was a first for me. There was a lot of tension between Max and Abby for most of the book. Abby is hiding from her past and that comes with a lot of secrets. Max is trying to preserve all that he cares about and knows he needs to get to the bottom of this hunt. The attraction between the two of them is almost touchable at times. I know this is the first in series. Might have to look in to the rest. The pacing was good for it kept me turning the pages on my kindle.

At first I wasn't able to really get into this story. The prologue was grabbing and then the first chapter sort of dropped the ball, in my opinion. But after the first two chapters or so it began to build back up and I was hooked. Interesting storyline. It's fast paced and action packed. A downfall for me was the romance between Abby and Max. The chemistry was a little off. But besides that, this was a really good read. 3.5/5

This book was action packed and difficult to put down. Despite the very gritty nature of some of the things that happen in the story, there was humour and even a laugh out loud moment. The action sequences were fast paced and rolled from one into another. The scenes where ‘Abs’ was able to take control and feel part of the solution made me want to cheer. Sometimes I wanted to shout at or shake Max for the way he behaved.

I loved the story of Abby and Max. I love Abby's strength and fearlessness. She is the perfect character who is a pleasure to read because she is strong but yet doesn't shy away from knowing when she needs help. I love Alpha Max too. He is the perfect protector but completely realizes how capable Abby is. The perfect blend of characters and action with lots of suspense and secrets! Can't wait to read the next one.

I thought this was a draft which ended up in a slush pile and accidentally found itself published as a debut novel or something, but no. Theres a whole series of this awful and seems like it was intentionally put out there like this. Its been a while since I've read something this terrible, there are Wattpad stories and Fanfics written by 12 year olds with more creativity and chemistry between the characters. The talent is non-existent.

Definitely not my cup of tea.
